Story
From academic linguistics to applied language technology.
I trained as a linguist in Argentina and the UK, completing a PhD in Linguistics at Lancaster University. I then spent 15 years in UK universities researching evaluation, metaphor, and how people use language to express lived experience, especially pain, emotion, and attitude.
Over time, my work shifted from analysing texts to building frameworks that could live inside tools: annotation schemes, taxonomies, and guidance that make language data more consistent, interpretable, and usable.
Today, I work at the intersection of linguistics, annotation, and NLP, translating qualitative insight into structured models that support products, research, and AI systems.
